Relays / Timers

Relays are represented in almost every industrial automation project and in general represent one of the most represented components in electrical engineering. The principle of operation is known, and the direction in which the construction of this component develops is that it deals with the compactness of the relays themselves as well as the development of the Solid State relay relative to the electromechanical ones.
EPS can offer its customers different types of relays for a wide range of applications such as:
• Electromechanical relays
• Solid State Relays
• Time relays
• Industrial relays
• Step relays
• Safety relays

Electromechanical vs. Solid State Relay:
Solid state relays or non-contact relays are increasingly being used in drives, especially for heating systems. Many times we hear the question of whether to use Solid State or Electromechanical relays, when there is a choice.
We point out the advantages and disadvantages of both:
The main advantage of the Solid State relay is that it has no mechanical opening and closing of the contact, so over time the contacts do not wear out like with electromechanical relays, so their working life is practically unlimited.
The isolation between the control and power circuits is solved by the optocoupler so that there is no galvanic contact.
Solid State relays, have the so-called Zero cross switching, ie interrupting when the sinusoid passes through zero. Switching options vary depending on the type of load, its power factor (resistive, inductive, capacitive). For highly inductive consumers, it is mandatory to add an RC member in parallel to the consumer.
Solid State Relays produce less operating noise than mechanical relays, and use less energy.
The disadvantages of the Solid State relay are:
High influence of ambient temperature on relay operation, then influence of air humidity, dust collecting on PCB, as well as possible component failure. With this type of relay, EM interference can be a problem, while electromechanical relays do not have this problem. Also, they are not so dependent on ambient temperature and have no electronic parts but just a coil.
In cooperation with German brand EUCHNER, you can read more about ep-solutions.rs/euchner,
We can offer a large selection of safety relays, voltage 24VDC or 230VAC, with and without auxiliary contacts and with different numbers of safety contacts. More about the features and benefits of EUCHNER safety relays can be found below in the product description and specification, as well as in the accompanying technical documentation.
